Welcome to my blog!
I am embarking on a project to changing my personal instagram and turning it into one of a professional artist’s. It is important for you to note that I have no experience with social media, and I want this project to be a process in which we can learn together. Every week I will choose to do market research on a famous flutist’s instagram, and create a post of mine in a similar style. I will also look at the pros and cons of their page and see what I can add to mine.

This week, I analyzed Katie Althen’s instagram page (@katieflute). She is a graduate of Julliard and NEC and has a huge following of 37.3k. I really enjoyed her instagram as she had a interesting bio and highlights, as well as a very clear aesthetic. Her favourite color is pink, so her posts and general theme are all in pink. After analyzing her page, I created some basic goals for myself:
Increase posts per week
I have had my instagram account since July of 2017 and have only posted 5 times so far. You don’t need to be a social media expert to know that having an average of 0.036 posts per week (yes, I did the math) does not get you many followers. Katie had posted 5 times in a week, with an average of around 1.5k likes per post. Therefore, the first goal I will be giving myself is to post content at least once a week. It might not seem much, but 1 is still better than 0.036 =)
Bio
It is very important that the first impression won't be the last one. If someone is accessing your profile, give them the courtesy of telling them exactly what they need to know without having to write an entire text to do so. katieflute gives a good example of a great profile which inspired me to organize my own! Here I left a screen shot of my profile. Please feel free to visit my page on Instagram and follow me =)
That's it for this week. Next week I will be bringing more tips and analyzing another profile (not telling you who it is yet). I hope this is being helpful for you as much as it has been for me. Make sure to come back next week to see who I am going to analyze! =)
