Building Your Artist Instagram: Week 5

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog, where I analyze different Instagram profiles every week and implement new ideas to my profile (@ivoshin).

This week I analyzed Maxim Rubtsov (@maxim_rubtsov), who is the principal flutist of the Russian National Orchestra. He is one of the most followed male flutists on Instagram, with 28.8k followers.

Content Ideas

I really enjoyed looking at his instagram page. Although he is a fantastic flute player, he doesn’t

take himself too seriously and posts really humorous content. For this week, I decided to post a funny video of me and fellow flutist Kaissy Yau playing Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf excerpt. Don’t worry, we are social distancing and she is actually my girlfriend.

Hashtag Ideas

One aspect that I really liked about his profile was that he put his hashtags apart from the caption and in a comment. You can only see his hashtags if you click into the comment section. I thought this was a great idea because most of my audience do not have a long attention span, and having many words in the caption may result in them just scrolling past my post.
